The effects of changing which predictor you put on the x axis.

 

 

 

By putting “Independent Variable A” on the x axis, we highlighted the B main effect (the B2 line is clearly above the B1 line) and the A X B interaction (the B2 line clearly slopes down faster than the B1 line). However, we may have obscured the A main effect.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

By putting “Independent Variable B” on the x axis, we highlighted both the A main effect (the A1 line is clearly above the A2 line) and the B main effect (the points on the right—B2—side of the graph are much higher than the points on the B1 side). However, we may have obscured the A X B interaction.
