Sample Proportion Calculator and Population Proportion Estimator

To determine both (a) the percentage of participants in your sample who did a certain behavior (e.g., helped) and
(b) between what percentages is it likely that the percentage of individuals in your population would do a certain behavior,
use the calculator below.

Specifically, the calculator will display
  1. the percentage of participants in your sample who did the behavior,
  2. the standard error for that percentage, and
  3. an approximation to a 95% confidence interval for the percentage of people in the population from which your sample was randomly drawn who would do that behavior.
To use the calculator,
  1. in the first box, enter the number of individuals in your sample who did the behavior,
  2. in the second box, enter the total number of participants, and then
  3. press the "Calculate Sample Percentage and 95% Confidence Interval for the Population Percentage" button.
