Mean and Standard Deviation Calculator

This calculator will give you the mean and standard deviation for your data.

1. every member of your population
   In the rare case that you have data from every member of your population, after you enter your data, press the "data are from a population" button.
   Then, when you press the "calculate" button, the computer will calculate both the actual mean of your population and your population's actual standard deviation.

2. a random sample of your population
   In the more common case that you are entering data from a random sample of your population, after you enter your data, press the "data are from a random sample" button.
   Then, when you press the "calculate" button, the computer will use your sample data to
   1. estimate your population's mean,
   2. estimate your population's standard deviation, and
   3. compute a 95% confidence interval for the population mean.
   
   Enter your data in the box below, putting a comma between each number. Do not put a comma after the last number that you enter. So, if you had only three scores and those scores were 3,4, and 5, you would put your cursor in the box and then type 3,4,5
