Discuss single-n designs. Have students debate

1. What kinds of problems are best dealt with by single-n designs;

2. Whether single-n designs should become more or less frequently used;

3. The extent to which single-n designs have external validity;

4. Whether single-n designs are preferable or inferior to quasi-experimental designs; and

5. Whether single-n designs are preferable or inferior to within-subject designs (in preparing for the debate, you may have them study Table 14.2 ).
