Have students design a quasi-experiment
After stressing that
quasi-experimental designs open up all kinds of avenues for research, have students design a quasi-experiment. Possible topics include the effects of drinking or other laws, the effects of college education, the effects of being a starter on a college sports team, the effects of eliminating or introducing fraternities, the psychological effects of accidents, and assessing the effects of government programs. Once the study is designed, have students evaluate their study's internal, external, and construct validity.
