## Regression Demonstration #2

Regression demonstration #2: Even after students accept that measurement error can occur with tests, they are less likely to accept that random measurement error and regression can occur when observing actual behavior. One way to illustrate how this can happen is to have them observe the behavior of coins. Have everyone flip coins four times (bring lots of pennies) until someone finds a coin that gets four heads or four tails in a row. Once these "biased" coins have been found, utter the magic word ("Regression"), and have the student flip the "biased " coins four more times. The coin should be considerably less biased the second time around.
